Ricardo S. Chance, Managing Director, KPMG Corporate Finance LLC - Rick has over 20 years of investment banking experience and has advised on over 100 domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, recapitalizations, growth financings, corporate divestitures and special situations transactions. Rick joined KPMG Corporate Finance in 2006 and is currently the Managing Director of the firm’s U.S. Consumer Markets Leisure and Wellness investment banking group.
Rick founded the Leisure and Wellness practice to advise clients on M&A and Corporate Finance transactions that provide innovative products and services in the following sub-sectors: Leisure and Wellness: Sporting Goods Equipment, Recreational Sports & Equipment, Performance Sportswear and Eyewear, Children’s Toys & Accessories, Fitness & Spa Facilities, Exercise Products & Services, Consumer Electronics, Diet & Nutritional Products, Cosmetic & Beauty Products.
Prior to his current consumer markets focus, Rick served as KPMG Corporate Finance’s U.S. Group Head and Managing Director of the Special Situations Advisory Group, which he founded in 2006. Prior to joining KPMG Corporate Finance, Rick was a Managing Director at BDO Capital Advisors for nine years where he led the Western Regional Investment Banking team and completed numerous consumer products transactions.
Rick has authored and been quoted in numerous publications and is a regular guest speaker at local professional organizations and business schools. Rick earned an MBA from UCLA, Anderson School of Management, and a BA from McGill University.
Alison Gerlach, Managing Member, ABG, LLC - has over 20 years of experience as a seasoned executive, serial entrepreneur, strategic management consultant, investor, and lecturer with expertise in, and a passion for, building businesses. Ms. Gerlach has done extensive research in optimizing the business start-up and funding process and has founded and built
businesses in a variety of industries.
Prior to her entrepreneurial endeavors, she was a strategic management consultant with Booz, Allen & Hamilton working with Fortune 100 media and consumer companies. Today, Today, Ms. Gerlach continues to build and invest in high growth companies as the Founder and Managing Partner of Breakthrough Ventures. She sits on the board of private equity funds as well as select early stage ventures. She is the host of the popular podcast, “The Unapologetic Capitalist” which focuses on building value in ventures at any stage.
Ms. Gerlach is also an active academic. She served on faculty at Cornell University as the Entrepreneur in Residence. In addition, she has taught courses in the Management department at San Diego State University in Business Plan Writing and Strategic Management. She is a frequent guest lecturer at top universities around the country on Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Negotiation, and Conflict Management.
Ms. Gerlach graduated at the top of her class from the MIT Sloan School of Management earning an MBA with focus on New Venture Development and Systems Optimization. She earned her BA in economics and mathematics from Cornell University.
Angel Sutoyo, Senior Vice President, Credit Officer, Bank of America’s Global Commercial Banking - Angel is responsible for structuring and approving senior credit solutions for publicly-traded and privately-held corporate clients with annual revenues of up to $2 billion. These senior credit solutions finance a wide range of general corporate needs, including working capital, mergers and acquisitions, dividend recapitalizations, and leveraged buyouts. With over $1 billion in loan commitments, her portfolio consists of corporations in diverse industries, such as aerospace and defense, business services, manufacturing, and consumer products. Partnering with her Leveraged Finance colleagues and Relationship Managers, she advises clients on optimal capital structure by accessing syndicated loan market and capital market.
Angel joined Bank of America in 2001. Majority of her 18-year career with the organization has been spent in credit. Angel was one of 52 recipients of Bank of America’s Global Commercial Banking Performance Excellent Award in 2012.
Angel graduated cum laude from University of California, Irvine with BAs in Economics and Political Science as well as a minor in Business Management. She is actively involved in Bank of America’s Women Leadership council and previously served in Bank of America’s Executive Council, which acts as an advisory board for the region’s senior executives. She also served as a board member of the Asian Business Association of San Diego from September 2012 through April 2014. She is also a graduate of San Diego’s LEAD Impact, a program that helps emerging leaders expand their understanding of major issues faced by the San Diego region, with the goal of increasing civic engagement and community investment.
Dhruv Vakharia, Chief Financial Officer at ARS National Services - Dhruv has over 12 years of strategic, operational and financial management including investment banking, commercial banking and global capital markets execution, leadership and organizational change management, special situations / turnaround and workout strategies, structured finance, business development and sales, operations and technology in financial services. His background also includes three years in strategy and management consulting in the institutional retirement, healthcare and insurance & financial services industries. Dhruv has held executive management positions at Towers Watson, Spring Consulting Group, and Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He earned a MBA in Finance and Accounting from The University of Chicago - Booth School of Business, and a BA, Economics (Cum Laude); Computer Science from Brandeis University.
