Challenges in supply chains, labor shortages, inflation and the Delta variant of COVID are all disrupting the economy. Hear from Michael Wall, Executive Director from IHS Markit Automotive Advisory, and Jim Robey, Principal, Robey Analytics, LLC, who will help us understand how the future is going to influence our existing processes and judgment.

Meet our speakers

 

 

Michael Wall, Executive Director of Automotive Analysis, IHS Markit Automotive Advisory

Mike Wall serves as the Executive Director of Automotive Analysis at IHS Markit. He brings over 25 years of financial analysis, forecasting, consulting and manufacturing experience to the firm, with a primary focus on assisting financial firms and manufacturers in their evaluation and understanding of the auto industry, as well as in-depth analysis of vehicle markets and trends.

Mike has extensive experience working with both manufacturing and financial firms. With a knowledgebase established studying and covering the automotive industry as well as experience in financial analysis and banking, Mike is able to offer clients timely and relevant insight, thereby aiding their strategic planning or investment analysis processes. Moreover, he has a deep background in the area of vehicle forecasting and market trend analysis allowing him to assist clients in their assessment of near-term risks and planning scenarios.

Mike is quoted frequently in the media on a variety of automotive topics and has delivered presentations focusing on both macroeconomic and specific market outlooks to company executives and other interested groups, including the United Nations Industrial Development Organization in Vienna, Austria.

Prior to joining IHS Markit, Mike was the Director of Forecasting at IRN, Inc. He has also held financial and analytical positions in the manufacturing and banking sectors. Mike graduated Summa Cum Laude with an undergraduate degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. He later earned the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation.

Jim Robey, Principal, Robey Analytics, LLC


Jim Robey is Principal of Robey Analytics, LLC, a professional consulting firm specializing in economic development, workforce development, and site selection services. Jim is an applied economist, economic developer, and site selection consultant, with more than 30 years’ experience. He has worked with corporate, nonprofit, and economic and workforce development organizations in problem solving, strategy, and policy decision making from the local to the national levels. His expertise includes industry studies, applied occupational analysis, economic impact analysis, economic impact modeling, economic and workforce development research and analysis, and site selection assistance. Prior experience includes positions in directing regional research initiatives, economic development, and site selection at both nonprofit and for-profit entities. Jim earned his PhD in Urban Studies, with an emphasis in Economic Development, and his master’s degree in Public Administration from Cleveland State University’s Levin College of Urban Affairs.

 

Moderator: Mark Blaufuss, Managing Director, Green & White Advisory, LLC

 

Mark Blaufuss is the Founder and Managing Director of Green & White Advisory, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions evaluation and overall organizational effectiveness. Mr. Blaufuss also holds the position of Operating Executive for The Carlyle Group, a global investment firm with over $200 billion of assets under management.

Mr. Blaufuss was formerly the Chief Financial Officer of Metaldyne Performance Group (MPG) a $3B, publicly traded light vehicle supplier. During his tenure, Mr. Blaufuss was instrumental in forming MPG through the merger of three $1B metal-forming businesses, refinancing the combined entity, executing its initial public offering in December 2014 and ultimately selling the company to American Axle & Manufacturing.

Prior to MPG, Mr. Blaufuss worked extensively with private equity owned manufacturing and distribution businesses, including serving as the Chief Financial Officer at Metaldyne, United Components, Inc. and Axletech International. During his tenure, Mr. Blaufuss helped to guide all three businesses through periods of substantial revenue and earnings growth, culminating in the successful sale of each business.

Mr. Blaufuss holds a B.A. degree in Accounting from Michigan State University. He also serves as a board member and audit committee chair for The Jason Group and United Road, serves on the finance committee of Ele’s Place and serves on the steering committee for the Detroit Chapter of the CFO Leadership Council.
