CFOs are grappling with generational differences in their workforce. Baby-Boomers, born between 1946-1964 are competitive, challenge the rules, and tend to think that workers should pay their dues. Gen-X, born between 1965-1977 are more likely to be skeptical, independent-minded, and change the rules. Gen-Y (Gen Next, Millennials), born between 1978-1989 like teamwork, a ton of feedback, and create the rules. Gen-Z (iGeneration, Centinnials, Selfie Generation), born between 1990-1999 are entrepreneurial, technology-based, and customize the rules. The key is to be able to effectively address and take advantage of the differences in workforce values and expectations of each generation.
